Wall decoration tile picture with suspension, glossy, modern retro design
A triggerfish floats suspended in a green algae colony. Every moment it seems to swim out of sight. Strong and soft shades of green alternate in this elegant composition. The motif comes from Andrew Gerrett’s Fishes of the South Seas from 1875. The background is an ornamental structure from scientific drawings of the Gesellige Algetten (Pediastrum Melethallia) after art forms of nature, plate 34 by Ernst Haeckel.
Our double pictures in landscape and portrait format from the series Art of Science represent an extraordinary wall decoration. Design
Inspired by the visual language of traditional Portuguese-Spanish wall tiles (azulejos), our designs combine ornamental play with realistic illustration. Scientific representations of different eras merge into new images that tell their own story. We play with the contrasts of science and art. Thus the ornaments of our tile pictures are composed of elements of Ernst Haeckel's scientific drawings. Because with Haeckel both spheres find each other. The love of nature grows into a curiosity about its essence and expresses itself in a wonderful way in the depiction of its forms and structures. Art and science are no longer a contradiction. Rather, they go hand in hand.
Technique
We can not only call our design state of the art, but also the quality of our products. All our tile pictures are handmade in our workshop in Berlin. Our special hot printing process delivers radiant colors with mirror-like, high-gloss surface. How did you do that? is number 1 in our FAQ's. Each tile and tile picture is handmade. Therefore, please take into account possible minimal deviations from the product images.
